Dr. John W. Chatas is a board-certified anesthesiologist and fellowship-trained interventional pain specialist with more than 30 years of experience treating complex spine and nerve-related pain. He is a member of Michigan Pain Specialists in Ann Arbor, where he focuses on advanced, minimally invasive solutions for patients who have not responded to traditional therapies.
Dr. Chatas is widely recognized for his expertise in sacroiliac (SI) joint dysfunction and spinal cord stimulation (SCS)—two of the most rapidly evolving areas in modern pain medicine. This work highlights his role in advancing treatment options for complex, treatment-resistant SI joint pain.
In addition, Dr. Chatas has participated in multicenter clinical research evaluating spinal cord stimulation technologies, including studies involving modern SCS systems used to treat chronic low back pain. He is board-certified in anesthesiology and holds subspecialty certification in pain management from the American Board of Anesthesiology. He is also a Fellow of Interventional Pain Physicians (FIPP).
